Useless Dog Gifts!
While Fido and Fifi certainly deserve lots of love and attention, some people are going to the dogs, when it comes to buying gifts for their best friends. Here are two gifts in particular that could be called “doggone ridiculous.”
For example, there are many dog collars and leashes available. Most cost a few dollars But, if you want to spend more than a little kibble you can buy dog collars and leashes with real diamonds.
For the well-heeled canine, the Amour Amour collar by I Love Dogs costs a cool $1.8 million. It looks like a sparkly chandelier, and according to the company website it has 1600 diamonds on it. For those who desire a less-pricey gift, the company also sells collars in the $300,000 range. Seriously, what dog needs to have a collar that costs more than a house? Am I the only one whose dog has been known to roll in something extra smelly on the ground?
If the bling isn’t bad enough, here’s a gift a dog can truly live without: Branding.
No, it does not involve burning the insignia of the Circle K ranch into your dog’s skin. It’s corporate branding.
For $2,600, a company called Brand Your Dog will look at your dog’s personality, pick colors and create an individualized logo. You then get your dog’s logo on a collar, a doggie jacket and stationary. You also get a website.
They call it “the most ultimate dog statement you could possibly make” and they say the price tag is quite a bargain, when you consider what they charge their corporate clients for branding.
At least their corporate clients will know what’s going on. I can hardly see a dog running to the dog park to show off his new stationary. In fact, if you buy your dog this, he or she won’t even know it.
Seriously, people who have money to bum should consider the fact that their best friend doesn’t know how much his or her collar costs Most dogs just want a little time and attention, and maybe a toy or bone. People who have money to burn could donate it to an animal shelter, instead. Those animals will truly appreciate it. In fact, you may be saving their lives.
